damn, it’s been a week…I haven’t had a nice, decent sleep.
my mind is roaming all over the place. I tried reading books for hours, watching tv, movies or whatever there is to see. Would u believe I even tried counting sheep…
god, I envy my roommates seeing them fast asleep, wondering in dreamland while I am all stirred up at 2 in the morning….

i have the same problem.
last night, i fell asleep at around 11:30 pm, then i woke up at 1 am. then i dozed off and woke up at 3 am. then i napped, and woke up at 4 am. i've been moving about since then.
i know what my problem is... i don't drink enough milk!

maybe we should take lots of milk!
or maybe i'm just in a state of denial because i've finally found someone i like, who breaks down all my standards and does it with a mischievous grin... haay, daydreaming again. tsk, tsk. sorry.
anyway, try to find out what's bugging you. or maybe
who's bugging you.

I just reminisce... my memory's quite good... lalo na sa pagre-reminisce ng mga "nice moments"... I sort of create a world of my own and before I know it... inaantok na 'ko... para syang "lullaby ba" na nagpapatulog sa 'kin.

A lot of things have been bugging me lately, I could hardly determine, which of which…

ok... then, how about this?
tire yourself out during the day, exercising and running around and keeping really busy. then by nighttime, you'll be so exhausted that you'll just drop off to sleep.
i tried that once. it worked for me.

Get a book on Quantum Physics or a book detailing the Mechanics of the Kicksey-Winsey.
Unless you are MENSA material, you'll be dozing off by the first few pages of the table of contents.

Books on Quantum Physics tend to have 1000 or more pages and they're usually hard-bound. Have somebody whack you hard in the noggin. You should wake up by the time our grandkid's kids (nth times) celebrate the next millenium.

I wouldn't try cough syrups, but hey, whatever works for you.
Look towards more permanent solutions, though. A moment of introspection (talk to any Psych major you know, I'll help if you're interested) would help you greatly. Stress is the greatest sleep thief of all time.
Isn't it ironic when you find yourself lying in bed too tired to do anything else yet you can't sleep?
You got it: ARGH!

Psych majors aren't shrinks. They just know how to help you look for answers to why you can't sleep.
As to cough syrups, yeah, moderation is the key. But don't do it on a regular basis. You'll risk building an immunity to it, then if you do catch a cough and cold bug, you'll find cough syrups ineffective.

Ei, guys, paano yan? I have the exact same opposite problem as blue-shadow. Diba ang insomia yung hindi maka tulog? I've got narcolepsy.
I just nod off to sleep at the weirdest times and I can't control it. It's 70% more dangerous than insomia, might I add. Thankfully, I haven't fallen asleep while crossing the road. I fell asleep in the middle of concerts though, rock concrts at that. (Punyeta, sino ba nakakatulog pag may sumisigaw sa mikropono?) Can you imagine someone in the moshpit, jumping, screaming and suddenly just falling asleep? Putcha, ang hirap! Some times, it happens in the morning. I'm sleeping my life away...

Ei,
Kryptonite mas doble hirap ng problema mo…
May joke kami sa mga taong me ganitong sakit…kung yung mga insomiac daw e mukhang “bangag” (with the “eyebags” and the “haggard” look) yung mga narcoleptic naman e mukhang “tungaw” yung tipo bang any minute e mawawala sa wisyo tas di mo na alam kung saang mundo nagpunta ang diwa. Funny thing is, it usually happens in a snap…
La kong idea sa gamot dyan…pero since contributory factor ang irregular sleeping habit…malamang dito ka din dapat mag-simula.
*er, wonder wat ur friends wer saying nung natulog ka sa rock concert…

Cough syrups! Don't do that! Some of them are narcotic (that's why they help you sleep), and some of them are narcotic AND addictive! Anong gusto mo, puyat ka, or hindi ka na uubuhin forever pero adik ka?
And about that
other method Chipmunk suggested... it's also narcotic and addictive.

I play the violin on my balcony under the warm glow of the moon. The melodious whine as the bow crosses the string affects me as does a gentle lullaby softly whispered in my ears. When I'm done, I lay down upon my bed and, the melody still distantly playing in my head soothes me til I eventually slumber. If morning is soon to come, I play til the sun rises and quietly watch as it creeps up from the distant horizon.

when i was in college, i would have a smoke, and a glass of black label followed by a swig from a 1 liter bottle of coke i always have in my fridge. but that became real expensive, so i switched to a half-and-half mix then the glass of coke. but that was still too expensive, so it became a glass of vodka-sprite. and that stuck until i started working, cuz i wouldn't wake up early enough for work.
now, i'm so stressed and exhausted after work that sleep is no longer a problem.

Ako din may insomnia! It sucks coz I tire myelf out everyday training and when I get home i can't sleep at all.
About those remedies...
Milk is said to be a good way to make urself sleepy coz it facilitates the manufacture of the hormone that induces sleep. But if ur lactose intolerant baka lalong hindi ka makatulog!
Sex...kinda hard pag nasanay ka.
Cough syrup? Benadryl noh? Tried that too, pero didnt work pa rin.
Pills? Ha! You wake up feeling like a log..
So ano ba talaga ang solusyon? EWAN KO! Insomniac pa rin ako!!! Help din!

Well, I usually just go online and repeatedly check if I have any new email -- that doesn't work too well though. I also eat cereal, which is quite nice. Sometimes I read. Once, while at a hostel, I tried reading this one novel while laying down, and with just a sliver of faint light. That didn't work.
What does work for me is laying down and being completely still. I'm not mocking. I mean to just lay perfectly still, staring at a single point on the ceiling, crossing my arms over my chest, legs straight and aligned, etc. But relaxed at the same time -- it is doable. Then, I just let anything and everything enter my mind and eventually one will seem interesting in some odd way, and I'll stick with it... analyzing it or whatever. I let it take me from topic to topic, regardless of the weird associations...
One thing I never do is count backward or forward because I end up calculating the squares and radicals of the numbers in my head. That just keeps me awake.

I've had problems sleeping jst b4 d start of dis sem and it lasted for around a week. I start dozing off comfortably then at 1 or 2am i jst wake up! I've heard that when that happens a person is thinking of you. Maybe it's my mom who's 4000 miles away from the Philippine islands. Damn i miss her!

Well enough of dat it's jst a theory, d best remedy is to get up and watch tv, listen 2 music (my first choice), or read a book. They all work for me. Try drinking milk as well. As for the boys - you KNOW what to do when u can't sleep. hehehe!

1. learn to switch off - dont bring work to your home. always have a relaxing atmosphere at home. remember, your home is your place to recharge. there shouldn't be any stress or tension in the house.
for the students, dont do homework or study on your bed. doing this makes your mind associate the bed with work/school. study in your library or anywhere else in the house. same goes for working people. dont start the habit of having your laptop on your bed and other gadgets you mostly use for work. make your room your place of solace.
try having candles and soft lights (lamps) in your bedroom to create a soothing and peaceful atmosphere.
2. have a nice, long, warm bath before going to bed. this relaxes your muscles after a long day.
3. a glass of warm milk
4. make love or masturbate - its the best stress reliever as you fall into coma-like sleep after orgasm
RELAX. Dont think too much.

And yes, maaring hindi ka na gumising after doing what d98603b suggested.
Diazepam is commonly known as Valium.
Cloazepam is marketed in the US as Klonopin, and is of the same pharmacological class as Rohypnol, commonly known as the "date-rape drug".
Both are highly effective central nervous system depressants, and when consumed with alcohol, itself a potent CNS depressant, it can effectively cause your heart to stop beating.
Please, I hope this dude's kidding, cause I'm not.

Do you have any time for PT or any kind of work-out? Even a simple 3-k road run around the campus. THAT usually does the trick, especially if you do it early afternoon, around 3 or 4. Kung wala kang panahon, at hindi ka naman alergic sa toma, isang bilog lang ang katapat niyan, o kaya 2 Red Horse. Problema mo lang niyan baka maka-develop ka ng dependence. Have you tried simple meditation? Breath-in-breath-out in a really comfortable position, kahit lying down. Rest the back of your knees on a pillow, rest your head on a lower or smaller pillow, sandali lang knock out ka na. Kung hindi pa din, try adjusting your sked na lang around your sleep pattern if you can. Work or study at later hours, try to get cat naps if you feel sleepy during the day in between classes.
