Full Version: To Shift Or Not To Shift?

I'm planning to shift from MIS to ME. However, I'm confused. I want MIS because I have friends there and MIS is absolutely a globally competitive job. On the other hand, I want ME because I like Math. I want to know which of the two courses give me the best opportunity to work abroad.

If I pursue MIS, I'm not sure if I will adore programming and the computer stuffs because I have zero percent knowledge in programming and computers. I don't want to flunk my programming class if ever I will continue my MIS degree. And if I pursue ME, I'm not sure if I will be able to work abroad and be promoted to certain positions because according to my sister, there is not enough promotion of Filipino managers abroad compared to if I work here in the Philippines.

If you see yourself working in a bank or in an FMCG, then go for ME. Otherwise, stick with MIS.

PS: ME is a decent course w/ lots of job opportunities. A lot of companies look for ME grads and before you know it, you already have a job offer waaaaaaay before you graduate. wink.gif

hi markiethird. mis major din ako (incoming junior), and absolutely maraming gusto magshift out sa mis dahil sa bigat ng programming sa second year. pero wag ka matakot, kasi nung freshie pa ako wala rin ako alam sa programming languages. learnable naman ang programming smile.gif the thing i like about the discs faculty is that they teach mis and cs subjects na suitable kahit sa mga walang alam dito beforehand. and hindi lang naman tungkol sa programming ang mis e. once you step in your soph year and take up mis101, youll probably have the idea (more or less) of what you will be doing after graduation. goodluck sa batch ninyo of incoming sophomores! pagbutihan ang first wave of majors wink.gif

ps. (nasa ym list kita markiethird. haha. )

Hmmm.

Medyo totoo yung Java as being the most misunderstood programming languages. Rest assured na hindi naman talaga kayo pahihirapan. Hehe yung CS21a and CS105 takes logic and some math skills to pull off. (pero magaling ka naman sa math diba? tongue.gif)

Ask the program directors of both for advice.

personally i'd say na stick with ME. Like what you said wala kang alam about programming and you don't sound like you have problems with math naman.

Well that's just me, As for the lure of going abroad wala akong masasabi since it never occured to me.
