Hi to all Psych Majors (AB & BS)! Just wondrin' what have become of you guys - in terms of career/work. Please fill me in. It would be interesting to know how life is, after graduating from Psychology in Ateneo.
Thanks so much!

Hi there. After graduation I found work as a guidance counselor in PWU. I quit after 4 months on the job to try out law school. I enrolled in UP-Law and stayed for 2 years. I didn't finish law for various reasons (immediate: academic, underlying; lack of interest).
I'm now with the DFA. From July to DEcember 2002, I was with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas - an attached agency under the DFA. Last January, my request for a transfer was granted and I was transferred to the Foreign Service Institute. And that's where I am now.

I'm in Dublin working with people with disabilities. Volunteer, by the way. Do you know that our PSY degree doesn't really stand here or in the UK? I want to do Clinical Psy but I have to do the undergrad degree again.

for the AB Psych grads, most went on to have careers in HR.
for the BS Psych grads, most went on to pursue their Med studies.

AB psych here:
after grad, spent a couple of years as a guidance counselor.
since that time, i've moved on to join the corporate world, in the training environment.
in our small training department, i'm the only one with a psych degree.

I will be working with horses this September. Psychology has a place in the equine world! I hope to train in dressage someday cause it combines riding, psychology and performing! Training the horse is not just working with the physical aspect but also with the mind of the horse. I have to say though, I don't think I learned horse psychology in Ateneo!:) Hopefully someday I get to do Clinical Psychology.

I unwittingly went into market research, not knowing what it was, but I find that Psychology is very useful in this field. Math skills are required, but you have stat programs to handle the difficult problems. Most useful is the psych grad's ability to get into the heads of the consumer, remain unbiased, etc.

In my batch, a few went into law school, some went into business, others into teaching, a lot are also in Human Resources, and others into studying again for a Master's Degree (either in Manila or abroad). Yours truly went to San Francisco, CA, USA to continue living here. I'm currently into the securities/insurance business.

A friend of mine graduated from BS pysch and took her masters in Pych therapy in San Francisco. She was practicing shrink in the US but she just recently returned to Manila because she hated it in the US and wants to start her own practice in Manila as well as teach in Admu.

I recently bumped into Yvette Banzon from BS PSY 1996 here in NYC. She's currently a diplomat working for the RP Mission to the UN handling social issues.

i graduated bs psych. most of my blockmates went on to become doctors. most of them have now finished their fellowships and are starting to establish their practice.
the handful of us who didn't pursue medicine can be found in the HR department of MNC's, managing personal business endeavors, making a mark in advertising or teaching.
