now as to avril herself...i cannot stand her. she's just new in the business and she talks so much crap about britney and christina. wala lang...even if she weren't new, she shouldn't trashtalk everybody else. and yea...what's up with her "i'm sooo original" kind of thinking? she isn't the first person to wear a tie. or to wear converse. it's like she's trying SOOOO hard to be punk/skater. but in the end, she's just one big fat POSER

She's definitely got an image problem. I hate the music video of her single Complicated. When I encountered the music again, sans video, from the PC, I thought it was okay.

But you know what, I think she'll be around for a little while (just like Britney!) coz all the little kids love her and will spend their pocket money on her albums.

(Strangely enough, my 23 yr old brother who's been into "heavier" music for the last 10 years, actually bought her album?!?)

she looks suspiciously like Sarah Michelle Gellar, minus the ironed hair.

her music is okay. so's her image. its for those kids riding the "punk revival" (if that's what it actually is, instead of another passing fad) who need to see someone in the mainstream carrying their image; it's not for us college pips and yuppies who have seriously outgrown it.

all in all, kung wala siyang appeal sa atin, malamang kasi hindi tayo ang target audience niya.

catchy melody. and they got a pretty decent band for her. i really don't know why avril gets all the hype, without her band, she's nothing. (of course, assuming she uses the same band. looks like it though.)

her personality? seems kalog. that's a good thing.

image. it's good she doesn't go for sexy, like all the other pop divas and diva wannabes. i personally haven't heard her proclaim she was a skater-punk, she just likes the style I guess. there's nothing wrong with that. they're just clothes. BUT. she flaunts this image. she uses her image and not her music to appeal to an audience. it's like false advertising.

she should just tone her...forgive me for saying...loudness (of character) down a notch. and get MAJOR help with the lyrics, it needs a complete overhaul.

in fairness though, she seems nice, that is, she's passionate about what she does and we should respect that. performance artists need an audience to sell, but i don't think anyone gets into the career to seek mass approvement,adoration and all-out fame. they do it because they love what they do and they want to take it as far as they can, so to hell with everything else. and if they can make some moolah in the process, then all the better right?

plus. she's got nice hair and a great make-up artist.

but i hate her lyrics. trying to be deep and poetic, they turn out horrible. wannabe-emo nga ang dating.

Well, as far as pop-music goes, at least the tempo and beats of her songs are quite catchy. But her lyrics need serious work. Just listen to her song "Mobile" or "Naked." Blech. Very teenyboperish.

As for her image, it's not very unique. She's obviously a copy of another pop-princess who's trying to pretend she's edgy. And that pop-princess goes by the name of PINK.

Yep, Avril is just another product of the BIG PR Marketing Machine of the American Music Industry. When will they stop?!
