it seems that the only marvel comics that were adapted pretty well (and that's an understatement) are Blade, Spider-man and X-Men (including the sequels of course). Daredevil could have been real good but kulang. hindi na-explore yung wealth of talent they had like in colin farrell and michael clarke duncan.
hulk on the other hand, i was nervous since everybody knew that the jade behemoth would be nothing more than a CGI character. nick nolte, who's really great at playing eccentric characters was his usual nasty self. sam elliot, who's great at crusty and grumpy characters (remember him in we were soldiers? he could give lee ermey a run for his money in tough soldier-types?) was underused. well, you all know how i felt about jen connelly acting here as was eric bana's.
ang lee sorta reminds of george lucas. he's got a very good cast but seems to be more engrossed in the technicalities and effects of the movie that he isn't able to coax out the best performances from his actors.
regarding the george lucas comparison, i don't believe that he needs brit actors do a great film because he's got some pretty good ones in natalie portman and harrison ford (back then).
fans of the hulk comics will know that betty ross-banner graduated from the atypical female in distress to a strong-willed character who was so vital in the character's mythos. granted it's just one film, but nevertheless. bryan singer had oscar awardee halle berry for two x-men films and she had some really bad lines and wasted fight scenes. storm should have really kicked some serious butt!
hopefully, mike mignola's hellboy will be better.
or even ghostrider with johnny depp as johnny blaze.
oh yeah, jennifer connelly forever!!!
