Jesuit Communications invites you to watch the replay of Maging Akin Muli on
Wednesday, Dec. 21, 8:00 p.m., IBC Channel 13. Audience reaction to Sunday
night's telecast on Channel 2 has been phenomenal!

The story revolves around the life of Junjun (Marvin Agustin), a newly ordained
deacon. By tradition, he may now be addressed as "Reverend," a title
that sounds better with his full name, Christopher Santos, Jr. But he prefers to
be simply Junjun-ordinary, simple, cool. Junjun entered the seminary at age 12,
but he nevertheless enjoyed his childhood and teens, managed to have a couple of
girlfriends in secret, earned good grades, and taught himself to sing pop songs
as well. He has never doubted his vocation, but often wonders if there are ways
to live it "outside the box." Music is the language of his heart, the
prayer of his soul.

After ordination as a deacon, he is sent to his hometown to assist in the parish
and gain pastoral experience as a way of preparing for his ordination to the
priesthood. There he meets Fr. Salvador Bautista (Noel Trinidad), 65, fluent in
Latin and Italian, a product of the "old school." Ordained just as the
reforms of the Second Vatican Council were launched, Fr. Doy had served in
several parishes before being assigned to the rural Parish of Santiago Apostol
the past five years.

MAGING AKIN MULI accompanies Junjun on his journey to the priesthood. At
Santiago Apostol, he encounters the complexities of life for his fellow pilgrims
in the parish -a generous but demanding benefactor, a young lady (Missy
Maramara) in distress, a couple whose son (Ronnie Lazaro) is on death row. The
lives of these people enrich his own, but also challenge his vocation to be good
and holy, to belong to God. The film explores the tension between human
freedom, what people decide to do with their lives, and divine wisdom, what God
asks of each person.

MAGING AKIN MULI also stars Sandy Andolong as Rev. Junjun's mother, Efren Reyes
Jr., and Jaime Fabregas. Produced by Jesuit Communications under the direction
of acclaimed director Marilou Diaz Abaya, with a musical score by Nonong
Buencamino and the collaboration of many of Diaz Abaya's colleagues and former
students at the Ateneo de Manila, MAGING AKIN MULI is a unique event on
Philippine television. It aims to help Filipinos reflect on the meaning of hope
at Christmas time, and glimpse the story of Jesus in their own.

Available in VIDEO in a few months' time.

"I was able to watch Maging Akin Muli last night and somehow, I never expected watching it (kanina ko lang po nabasa yung announcement niyo about the program) and I have to admit that it made me rethink about my plans for the future. It may seem confusing to think all about it since I am studying preparatory studies for Medicine at the UP College of Medicine (...in their Integrated Liberal Arts and Medicine program or INTARMED) ... Although I am praying for that to happen, I am really confused because, since first year high school, I am feeling that I am having this special calling and kahit pa po nawawala siya from time to time, when I watched that program kagabi I was reminded of it once more..." (an INTARMED student, UP Manila)

I let out tears of joy and nostalgi in the Christmas gift-giving scene between the two priests.

A very heart-warming movie... recommended for everyone. Especially for those with hard hearts.
