Looks like a close game. What happened?

Just timely hits from Adamson batters that resulted in runs.

Basta from what I remember, we scored first in the 3rd inning with 3 runs and then Adamson caught up to make it a 6-3 game. Then, Ateneo exploded for 4 runs in the bottom 7th to take a 7-6 lead.

I'm glad the team kept its composure and survived a bases-loaded top of the 9th with a 7-6 lead to win it.

Anyway, here's the SECOND ROUND SCHEDULE:

Jan. 29, Sunday - Ateneo vs. NU, 3rd game (around 1 PM)

Feb. 2, Thursday - Ateneo vs. UP, 1st game (8 AM)

Feb. 5, Sunday - Ateneo vs. ADU, 1st game (8 AM)

Feb. 9, Thursday - Ateneo vs. UST, 2nd game (around 10:30 AM)

I asked around to find out how the game went. I was told that the bases should never have even been loaded at all. There were some crucial fielding errors on bad bunts by the pitcher. Good thing he was composed enough to get out of the jam he created.

Am glad you guys got out of it ok. practice team defense more. You guys need to.

well, team defense was played naman e. its was unfortunate for us that david decided to go for the lead runner and on the next batter, zamora did the same. we could comment and comment about what should have happend but the bottom line is the players adjusted and were able to hold them. lets just say they made the wrong call, but it does not mean they dont know what to do.

Hold the telephone! No one said they did not know what to do. Am pretty sure they all knew what to do in that particular situation. You are correct in saying they made the wrong call. That is why they must practice that play constantly. Hopefully this will lessen the chance of mental errors.

I disagree that the team adjusted and was able to hold them. I think they were lucky they were able to hold them.

Am certain the team will face these situations in the second round and perhaps the finals. All the more the fans should comment on the different aspects of the team's performance good or bad. The criticisms should help.

your thoughts are well appreciated. i can assure you that the team is aware of the possible situations they will encounter in the second round. Especially since all the teams have already adjsted to the other teams' style of play. It will be a different ballgame at the start of the 2nd round.

That's wrong information from Ubelt.com (they've changed it already). La Salle lost to UST, 8-6. So La Salle is 0-6 while UST is 5-1.

yup, we lost to nu, 3 - 7. the boys could not hit when we needed them. so many runners left on base. sayang, it was 3 - 4 till the top of the 8th.

This is a big win for the team as they slug it out for one of the Final 4 slots. Ateneo is now at a 4-3 record. We'll see how the other games (UST vs ADU, NU vs DLSU) go...

So the team has managed to beat NU, UP, ADU, DLSU. That means all these teams can be beaten. Too bad we lost to NU. If hitting is the problem then maybe we should have had more live pitching.

We should really try to beat UST for a psychological advantage.

Can't someone "cover" the game and post a post-game analysis? I'd love to watch the Blue Batters live in action one day, but while I can't, it would be nice to read a _good_ post-game wrap-up... no offense to current and former Guidon sports staffers but baseball coverage was never really good.

bit_bang_boom, I hope so. I'm very glad that people are drumming up awareness about the Ateneo baseball team - as well as the other varsity teams currently competing - here in the forums because all our athletes deserve our support.

I agree that analyses of the games would be good reading. Perhaps it will encourage others to be students of the sport.

Yeah! It's really good to know that our teams, baseball team especially, are doing well. Galing talaga. I need to find a way to start watching these games.

Great game by the team as it beat powerhouse UST, 6-5, yesterday. Total team game talaga, that's what won it for us. The defense held up and the bats swung at the crucial moments. Everything's coming along at the right time.

We've beaten every team in the UAAP now and with a 6-3 record, the team is, if I'm not mistaken, at solo 3rd. A win on Sunday against La Salle will boost the record to 7-3, tied for 2nd with either UP or UST, whoever loses in the UP-UST match later that day.

History has already been made by our Blue Batters. I think we've already achieved the best record ever (correct me if I'm wrong; my memory only serves me 15 years, beginning the 1991 UAAP season). And we continue to write history as this UAAP season winds down.

Our win this sunday against DLSU will assure us of 3rd place in the team standings. hence the ADU vs NU game will not have any bearing. The UST - UP encounter will determine who we will face in the final four. as far as i know, even if we are tied for 2nd at the end of the 2nd round, we wil still be in 3rd place (due to the quotient system) Hence we will have to beat whoever twice to make it to the finals. We really dont have any preference as to who to face in the final four. both UST and UP are strong teams but we know for a fact that we can beat them!
