membrere. pero pagbigyan nyo na. it wasn't a stupid thing to say. na-carried away lang siya ng emotions nya siguro, dala ng sobrang excitement sa pagkapanalo ng championship. 14 years din yon ah.

Argh, I really should dig up my sorts quote book for this thread. Yogi Berra has a starring role in the "curious phraseologies and mangled malapropisms" section

Anyhoo, here is my contribution, hopefully the first of many:
"We lost, and we no can do nothing about it now." - Esa Tikkanen, hockey player, on his team's first-round loss to the St. Louis Blues

this one's not so much as stupid, as it is funny. Vladimir Matsuyenko, a MMA fighter out of the Chiapparelli brother's RAW team, gave an interviewer the wrong URL for the RAW team's website. He accidentally gave them a teen porn url. *teehee*
Anyway, to clear up things, it was the correct URL but some porn company bought the URL a while back because the RAW guys weren't using that URL anymore.

May alam ako pero hindi siya athlete technically pero at least courtside reporter siya.
Naalala niyo ba iyong ue-ateneo game?
sabi ng courtside reporter ng ue, i think, in the 4th quarter ata, "coach boysie samar said ONE WORD to his team and that is (half-second "dramatic" pause) enjoy the game and everything will come after!
Haha! napatigil ako at nagulat sa sinabi niya. hindi ko na sana napansin kung di siya nag-"dramatic" pause pa.

herdOls: was gonna send you a PM but naka-disable ata PM function mo. anyway, di ko nga mahanap yung thread niyo. i honestly don't know what happened to it. i didn't delete it, and i don't think BK did either. the only explanation i can think of is that it was accidentally erased... last week somebody flooded the forum and chief atenista and i did the clean-up. baka nabura by mistake.
anyway, i'll look into it. in the meantime, you can post a new thread if you want.

i hate it when players lose and say: "i didn't do my best" or "i wasn't 100% today" etc.
it's like taking away something from the person who beat them and did so deservingly.
i mean, if they "didn't do their best" intentionally, why compete at all?
serena williams is often guilty on this one.

I wonder when an athlete will say what I KNOW he really wants to say?
For instance after winning a big game and he did well:
Interviewer: "Your team won and you had a triple double. To what do you attribute your great game today?"
Player: "What else, man? Sa GALING ko ba naman nagtataka ka pa? Man! You interview guys ask the STUPIDEST things, ano?"
Or after losing bad...
Interviewer: "What happened in tonight's game, mukhang wala sa sync ang koponan ninyo?"
Player: "Ito kasing mga gagong kakampi ko puro alak inuuna, ayun, lahat mau hangover kanina, madaling araw pa nagsipag-uwian. Nagtataka nga ako nakalaro pang mga lintik e!"

funny! let me add to that from a coach's perspective this time...
when interviewed about his team's chances in facing team X:
Politically correct way: "well, we'll sure expect a tough fight from this team for they have really worked hard and have intense determination. for sure, we'll not underestimate them for they are a very tough team to beat and they have what it takes... yada yada yada yada..."
What goes inside his brain: "tangna, siyempre kami mananalo no! lang kwenta naman yang magiging kalaban namin. tatambakan namin yan by 20 pts. and if matalo man kami, ibig sabihin off day lang and binayaran nila yung ref!"
i just realized that around the world, no matter what sport, athletes and coaches are too gracious nowadays. playing safe perhaps?

my pet peeve is when athletes say things like-
- i'm here to give 110%
- i'm here to give 200% effort
- i'll always give 1000%
as if giving 110%, 200% or 1000% were any different from giving good old 100% effort.

Guess which braindead mega-moron said this, after his team won back-to-back PBA championships?

Sumpa niya yan for joining the MBA instead of the PBA. Hindi tuloy umasenso ang skills niya. Yung laro niya ngayon pareho pa ng laro niya nung nasa amateur siya. Hanggang ngayon he's still looking for his place under the sun. Samantalang yung back up niya sa RP Youth Team '95 nanalo na ng Most Improved Player and yung back up ng back up niya, back-to-back MVP na.

what i find amusing are the tired and worn out "sports" cliches that we hear athletes and coaches mouth every so often:
1. there is no letter "i" in the word t-e-a-m;
may katuloy yan e..
There's no "I" in the word "T-e-a-m", there's just "m-e"
