what do you think? "everything that could possibly go wrong has gone wrong." niiice. boom kept quoting her all throughout his commentary.

she's cute but she seemed nervous. she has a good voice. very clear. she told my friend that she was scared to death before the game started.

Blue Ronin
At least she'd be remembered for her smile in her last game coverage for the Blue Eagles. I remember seeing her on TV and despite the enormity of the task that lay ahead (the Blue Crew was trailing by a double digit margin then), she said might as well smile. Yup. She was a realist enough to take stock of the situation and yet be optimistic and cheery about to smile. It gives you a sense of serenity. All with that smile.

Umm, maybe I'm overeading now... laugh.gif

Ateneo's had a tradition of outstanding courtside reporters.

There was Ria Tanjuatco back in the late 90's (I got this one right, right?haha), then there was eventual MTV VJ Patty Laurel, then multitalented Chinie Canivel (BS ME 2005), and now, Lia Cruz. I don't think we have to worry about anything in this regard. =)

As for Lia feeling the jitters before game 3- such is perfectly normal. Apart from being a budding broadcaster, Miss Cruz is, like you and me, an Atenean, hence, she too felt the tension experienced by those in blue on the sidelines, and those in blue on the hardcourt. Plain and simple. =)

Animo Ateneo! Thanks you to the 2006 Blue Eagles for the tremendous effort!

si Carmie!
pati si pia arcangel wala dito, she was the first.

ria tanjuatco, though she is atenean, was never really uaap courtside reporter (i think), she was with MBA at that time.

I stand corrected, people.

Sorry about forgetting Carmi Tanjutco, and Pia A. too. biggrin.gif

And yes, Ria was with the MBA. =) And PBL too, I think, for a time. =)

In any event, our Ateneo courtside gals are evidence that Ateneo does have a pretty decent comm program. =) Hihihihi. =) Not perfect, but gradually progressing. =)

They actually allowed guys to audition for the courtside reporter's post years ago. I should know. I tried out, but lost out to Chinie (I'm not complaining...she registered well on cam back then, and well, she's just attractive in any context, really...plus, like any true Atenean, she happens to be very articulate).

=)

For me the best courtside reporter the uaap (not just ateneo) has ever had was pia arcangel. She might not have been the prettiest (though she is pretty). But her eloquence and diction were almost perfect (neutral accent, hindi slang or colegiala), and her reports had the most substance. The quality of her speaking voice was good too.

Oo nga ano. Silverstar days pa si ria. sila jimmy javier and joaqui trillo pa ang madalas mag cover ng admu-dlsu games nun. Come to think of it, that means it was silverstar who introduced courtside reporting by students to the UAAP, not abs-cbn.
