A group of Pinoy immigrants in Switzerland gather in a friend’s house where they rekindle life back home in the Philippines. They tell stories about their families, eat kare-kare and patis, fuss about their padala, and constantly engage in an endless huntahan. This immersion among kababayans, and the repeated recreations of Filipino life when they are all together, become their armor against the difficulties of living in an alien country and the painful loneliness they struggle to overcome and deny. A modern masterpiece by acclaimed Filipino playwright Bienvenido Noriega Jr., Bayan-bayanan confronts the contradictions of Filipino life in a diaspora, revealing that life in the greener pastures can be as barren as a desert. A play about the ambiguity of flight and the fragility of dreams.

4.) Prepare to deliver a monologue from the play.
