A follow-up in the wake of its suspension since Monday in the greater Metro Manila.

As reported in the news, the color-coding or the UVVRP will soon be replaced by the odd-even scheme. The odd-even scheme has a maximum 50 percent maximum vehicle reduction capacity.

I am interested in the traffic reduction scheme. And please.. the man behind this for something else IS another subject.
prosk8ter_85
Is the odd-even scheme only for public utility vehicles as i've heard or r private vehicles affected as well?
raggster
i would like to think that private vehicles are included, since they make up the larger volume of vehicles outside the jeepney routes.

I have apprehensions regarding the lifting of the color coding scheme...Small effects as they may seem, I think the color coding scheme will decrease the passengers of the public utility vehicles, hence decreasing their daily "kita". But on the other hand, there will be lesser people who will buy a second car in order to have an alternative transportation when their primary car is "prohibited to roam the streets" during its color coding sched.

Medyo malabo pero I think you get the logic.

sa tingin ko tama lang na inalis muna ang color-coding kahit na for three weeks lang. they are trying to see kung ano talaga ang traffic sa metro manila without the color-coding scheme and try to find better ways to ease the congestion.

Aye! I'm sure BF will find the key to traffic decongestion soon.

They graduated from Philippine Science HS (yung mga boys) tapos yung drummer nila na only girl HS pa lang. They're currently studying sa U.P. Dil.

Try ko manood sa Sabado. May battle of the bands pa sa Peyups diba?

i think mayor binay is against removing the color coding scheme so it's still implemented in makati. i think mandaluyong will do the same. there's no big difference naman eh!

my tito na lawyer said that implementing the color coding scheme was actually illegal. basta he gave specific reasons and all i could say was.. "Ah!"

at least we get to optimize our vehicles since we invested on them diba! wink.gif biggrin.gif
raggster
i think Mayor Binay knows that if he removes the color coding in Makati, traffic won't move until well past midnight. for Makati, it's really a problem of sheer volume of the cars, and the coding scheme has had little effect in makati.

twayzie: the vehicle reduction scheme, illegal? strange, then, that no one has brought it up before, since it's been around for more than 5 years, give or take a few months. i'm intrigued. what exactly did you uncle say?
mac_bolan00
the odd-even and color-coding schemes, like most measures, are temporary. whereas owning a vehicle and having a license to drive it is considered a privilege, taking it away from a faultless individual is already an infringement. mabait lang kasi mga pinoy. they willingly obeyed the law because of the traffic situation.

how did i feel about it? i spent so much on a car and now they're telling me i can't use it 14% of the time? imagine the loss! @&*$#%$!!!!!
Mr. Baseball
In my opinion, traffic actually decreased when the "coding" was lifted.
Les Infanterie
traffic looks the same for me.
i guess we do not need color coding anymore. but we still need vehicle reduction programs due to the large volume of cars and public vehicles with narrow streets. maybe a program in a different format or something.

i hope BF solves all these traffic problems!!
for me, he is doing good in his post as dpwh and mmda chairman.

kaya lang, one time, i was late for school becuase he was checking out a market in project 4 and he was the one causing traffic. maybe nagpapatabi ng sidewalk vendors... rolleyes.gif

alex from the block
basta ang alam ko...
I HATE BAYANI FERNANDO!!!!!!!...

actually, 9.++M na po ang population ng NCR. mga higit sa kalahati noon nakatira malapit sa Caloocan-QC-Pasig-Mandaluyong-Makati-Pasay stretch. (which, incidentally, is the route of EDSA.)

bugoy_king
I don't think we need color coding anymore. Just implement the PUV lanes in EDSA with the traffic enforcers really apprehending the buses who do not follow. May two lanes na nga sila na sarili, eh ginagawa parin nilang loading and unloading zone yung third lane.

Private vehicles don't really cause that much traffic. It's usually the undisciplined PUV's and a few private vehicles that cause traffic. Discipline and law implementation are the keys to ease Metro Manila traffic.

alex from the block: why do you hate Bayani Fernando? I love what he is doing and how he is dedicated to improving not only the traffic problems in Metro Manila, but the other problems as well.
forgotten.soul.of.the.abyss
siguro mas maganda kung certain areas lang iimplement ang number coding scheme. some areas don't really need it naman e.

If you take a look at edsa during traffic, most of the time it is because of buses, fx's and jeep (meron bang jeep sa edsa?) who cause the traffic.

Kung tutuusin, there shouldn't be any scheme imposed on the private vehicles.
strawberry_water
i think that it does work in some areas like marcos hi-way, edsa, makati, mandaluyong but in areas where there are no traffics then it is not necessary at all. bf should realize that implementing the color-coding scheme among jeepneys, fx, buses is the most effective means to combat the traffic problem in the metropolis.if he should implement the scheme it should be with the public utility vehicles.

jeepeys,fx, buses are so many already. it congests the roads as we all know. but the thing is if we implement these to the jeepneys and the likes, it will probably hurt the families of the drivers. their salary is meager already and with the color-coding scheme lalu pang mag-less ung kita nila. kailangan talaga na tingnan natin ung effects.

maybe i am biased..or maybe not.

Mr. Baseball
What we need is strict enforcement of traffic rules EVEN at the wee hours of 10PM-5AM. Also add that license should be revoked after 3rd violation and so on. For jeepney and bus drivers, on the 2nd violation, license should be revoked. If this is not followed, these jerks won't get disciplined.
raggster
perhaps they could also limit the number of PUB/PUJ/trike/FX franchises that they give out, and really come down hard on colorum operations. smile.gif
XaiXai
i think so, although it doesnt completely solve the traffic problem in the country. sa tingin ko better din siguro if we improve our roads tpos magtayo na din sila ng maraming fly overs kasi philippines is medyo huli na sa ibang asian countries when it comes to road improvements eh...pero most important of all is yung disiplina ng drivers... wink.gif biggrin.gif smile.gif
++Artificielle++ ++Intelligence++

perhaps it should be "PERMANENTLY REVOKED." as in mamatay man yung tao, hindi pa rin siya bibigyan ng lisensya. this should get people thinking, especially those "professional" drivers (you know, the ones with multiple fake licenses, in case one gets confiscated) who need to drive to make a living.

one thing about the 10pm-5am monitoring: that's going to take a lot of manpower, one that the government may not have enough funds to support just yet. perhaps an alternative scheme can be implemented, one that's based more on a citizen's initiative? wink.gif
