Full Version: Season 68 Babble/Band/Cheerdancers
Welcome to Atenista.Net! > Sports and Athletics > Team Ateneo
Eagle_Eyes
Since season 68 is fast approaching (in fact, BF has already started a thread on this year's edition of the Sixth Man shirt), i just wanted to bring up another important element of Ateneo basketball - - - the group(s) tasked to lead everybody in cheering for our teams - - - the Blue Babble Battalion, the Band, and the Cheerdancers.

First off, how involved will this year's BBC (Babble, Band, and Cheerdancers) be with regard to all of Ateneo's sports?

Secondly, what changes can we expect/do we want to see (if any) with respect to their support for our basketball teams (which, I have to admit is in a class of its own wink.gif )?

Thirdly, will we place higher than 4th in this year's cheerdancing competitions? Personally, I think we can. Kayang-kaya naman eh. We just need to think out-of-the-box smile.gif

I'm looking forward to another explosive and pumped-up blue-and-white cheering squad, backed up by the unwavering Sixth Man, this coming July.

LET'S GET IT ON!!!!!!

GO ATENEO!!!!!

ONE BIG FIGHT!!!!!

sana mas HATAW! ang performance ng babble, banda at cheerdancers this year!. hopefully they could surpass their performance last year ( sana ang mga captains would also be as hyper as paolo toledo).

yep i agree i know that the squad can surpass their 4th place finish. goodluck to the blue babble battalion!. sana todo supporta niyo not only in basketball but other sports as well! biggrin.gif

I do hope we could surpass our 4th place finish. The cheerdancers have to really DANCE, and dance well. They have to be passionate, not only in helping the Babble lead the cheers in the stands, but in executing their routine as well. Personally, I think it would be a bit difficult for us to dethrone UST's Salinggawi (spelling?), as it is their school's official dance team, and most, if not all members are trained dancers. While I am not questioning the training and the talent of our own cheerdancers, there is admittedly a lot of room for improvement. What is very obvious, however, is the fact that our cheerdancers are the prettiest (hehe) and they exude a lot of class! wink.gif

Siguradong hahataw pa rin ang Babble at ang Band! Hindi naman sila nawawalan ng PUSO eh! smile.gif
miggzs
yes, i do wish the babble (we (thats if i get accepted in the tryouts smile.gif )) would just get better every year.. battalion, band, cheerdancers and lifters. even the high school!

GO ATENEO! ONE BIG FIGHT!

Hey, can't wait to hear the cheers again---specifically the go ateneo---one big fight cheers...

I really like the victory cheer as well...but can only hear it when the score is in our favor na (in other words tambak ang kalaban)---which is a minute till the end of the 4th qtr.

Can we make it a staple cheer thru out the game?...kahit chorus lang... ganda kasi ng chorus! tapos lagyan na lang ng babble ng drum intro or something. Its the only cheer na the whole name of the school is mentioned (ATENEO de MANILA).

Suggestion lang to the babble.

GO ATENEO

Drumline every time. With matching Babble coordination.

And bring on a brass band.

i agree that the drumline should be a more regular staple at our games - but to keep its luster and not to tire out the participants too much (from the constant practicing), maybe we can have it during the bigger games (i.e. vs. dlsu and feu, during the final 4, and hopefully, if we make it, during the finals)

ayan ah, i'm already assuming we'll enter the final 4 tongue.gif

i agree with adding on to our percussions though - it will help tremendously specially when we do "the bounce" (para mas matindi ang effect - i remember staying on the other side of araneta during a game against UE; i knew we were doing "the bounce" but i couldn't hear the sax's/trumpets).

at para magawa ulit natin yung sax portion of spandau ballet's "true." cool.gif

And while we're on the subject of competitive percussions, I'm sure you all remember how la salle brought drums from Manila, CSB, lsgh, and dlsz.

So, we ought to form a drumline presentation with a brass band, backed up by a gallery with extra drums from Naga, Davao, Zamboanga, and Cagayan. Add Iloilo to the list too. As well as Xavier School.
bluestorck
drumline astig talaga yun! even the greenies cant deny the fact that the babble is a cut above the rest biggrin.gif

it would be nice to hear new beats and cheers that could get the crowd going. im hoping to hear "hail ateneo hail" this year. kinda miss hearing that.

goodluck to the blue babble battalion ..both seniors and juniors!. your 6th man would always be behind you!.

a friend from CSB told me that their pep got suspended because of that.

but that's them. hehe.

yeah, i agree that the BBB should do the drumline routine more often. but i guess they would need to come up with something new..i'm sure kaya ng babble yan smile.gif

Hey, while we're at it, let's remind those imitators from Taft about one of our original cheers:

ANIMO ATENEO.

That's very true. My kuya gave me an original ANIMO ATENEO pin circa 1969. I've worn it during Ateneo-La Salle basketball games the past two years as a statement that Ateneo had this cheer ahead of them.

when's the tryouts? i wanna watch!

i think the CADS people can come in handy come the cheerdancing competition in september.

they can either help organize/choreograph the number or hell, maybe they can participate. i mean, dancing is what these people do extremely well anyway (other than study hehe) so it would be nice to get them on board (assuming of course that there won't be any technicality issue).

nevertheless, praises have to go to the cheerdancers who have strutted their stuff the last few years. since the competition started, we've always improved or at least have maintained our standing year after year. ang akin lang, if we have the resources, and it is possible to use these resources, then why not go for it? pare-pareho lang naman tayong mga atenista eh smile.gif

tapatan na natin yung dance troupes ng ibang schools wink.gif
bluestorck
yeah nga noh!...i always assumed that the cheerdancers were members of CADS. saw CADS jazz i think perform in one of those competitions on studio 23,they are really good...ganda ng costumes nila and man the way they move! ang galing talaga. even the judges were very impressed ,kaya nga nanalo ng 1st place ang team. i do hope they could join in or help out in the choreography of the cheerdancers.

whats the new look of the babble this year (uniforms)...i used to remember how lovestruck or was it starstruck unsure.gif boom gonzales was when he saw our cheerdancers when guess sponsored them years back!.

Blue Fuel: may balita na ba about the shirts?....hope they could be out before our first UAAP game.
summer_skywalker
sana ulitin ng babble yung ginawa nila nung half time nung admu vs. adu game 2 last season. Yun yung first game na wala si larry kaya todo hataw sila! The cheerdancers and boosters weren't the only ones who were on the hardcourt, pati yung mga drummers nandun rin and they were kind of like dancing and stuff. They made a rip-off of one scene in the movie Drum Line. Basta astig yung performnace nila nun sobra! encore, encore! laugh.gif hahaha

guys is it true? the band is having an early tryouts?
macca
I hope that Babble will win this year's cheerdance competition. It's about time, dba? smile.gif
Sana pag big time games (like Ateneo vs DLSU, final 4, finals), meron drumline if kaya. Nakakapagod kasi yun kahit papano. Oh, it would be great if the basketball team will win those games too. Haha.

Animo Ateneo. smile.gif

i found the babble/cheerdancer letter formations in a couple of our recent games very entertaining and impressive. good job people wink.gif
