Welcome to Atenista.Net! > Alumni > Graduate Studies

Hi. We're doing a LS 100 report on Ateneo Law School and I was wondering if you guys could describe the new Ateneo Law School Dean, Cesar Villanueva, to me?

This is in terms of leadership style. (Like is he task-motivated, a cooperative leader, or a participative leader, etc.)

Or if you could suggest a website or reading material with information about his profile.

I've searched everywhere on the Net, and I can't find any info pertaining to his leadership style and the catalog I bought for our report had no information on him.

Thanks in advance. biggrin.gif

(Btw, we're ADMU students, just in case you were wondering.)

I suggest you ask help from the administration. The Alumni Office I think will be able to help - that is, if he was an Ateneo alumnus (sorry di ko kasi alam if he is eh hehe). smile.gif
cassie
okay, i'll try that. thanks, pineforest crunch. smile.gif

cassie,

i read an article about dean villanueva in the first issue of "the hill". i think that issue came out last year. hope this helps.
cassie
i have read that article, but i doesn't point to his leadership style. it is more or less a very general history of his academic life and history as a faculty member and also stuff about what he thinks the core mission of Ateneo Law School is.

bluemax, thanks for replying.
cassie
Does anyone know if Ateneo Law School has a newsletter like ADMU's theGuidon?

And if they did a feature or an interview on Mr. Villanueva?

thanks.
Pineforest Crunch
Yup, they have The Palladium. smile.gif
cassie
Are the back issues available in the Ateneo Law School library?

biggrin.gif
Pineforest Crunch
Hmm. The Palladium is relatively new. They also circulate their stuff in the Ateneo though. If you need back issues go to TheGUIDON room at G207. smile.gif

Cass,

The best thig to do is to interview the guy. May pagka-Pasaway siya but he's ok. As for leadership style, as I recall he's one of those Management-By-Doing-Nothing kind of administrators. This is not to say he's a bum or a slob, just that he's more of a practicioner and educator rather than a proactive, always-on-the-go type manager guy. You might also want to interview his fellow faculty members and colleagues in the legal profession. I suggest you talk to guys like Fr. Bernas, Atty Sedfrey Candelaria, Atty Mel Sta Maria, and the Law School Student Council guys.

Cassie,

I agree with Mr. Scoundrel that it will be good if you could interview Dean Villanueva.

Mr. Scoundrel,

Hindi na yata "one of those Management-By-Doing-Nothing kind of administrators xxx more of a practicioner and educator rather than a proactive, always-on-the-go type manager guy" si CLV ngayon.

I had a chat with one of the ALS professors a few weeks back and I was told that CLV has in fact instituted a lot of reforms (changes) recently - e.g. requiring professors to attend seminars to improve teaching methods, etc. I was also told that he's very much a hands-on administrator (goes to work early and leaves a bit late and still goes home to Pampanga everyday!).
cassie
Yah, I wanted to interview him; pero nahihiya ako kasi sympre busy siya now coz March na. And wala akong contacts. Maybe, I'll go to Rockwell on Friday. smile.gif

Thanks for replies.
cassie
I finally interviewed him. He was very nice and he answered all my questions.

Anyway, thanks for all the advice!!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Cassie,

Yaman rin lang na-interview mo na pala si CLV, maybe you can post your impressions of the man or maybe even excerpts of your interview here. CLV is always good reading.
cassie
I only interviewed him for about 5 minutes coz our paper is about the Ateneo Law School as a whole. I just asked him what he thought his leadership style was, etc.

Okay naman siya, friendly, confident, smart, etc. Alam mo na...smile.gif
