Although it went down to a penalty shootout, Ateneo dominated throughout the game.
Congratulations to our Blue Booters!
Kudos to James for being a great keeper!

What an ending. The men's final penalty shootout was the polar opposite of the women's--no one was missing. Player after player for both Ateneo and UST came up and converted their penalties. What added more to the tension was that each UST player, to a man, would taunt the crowd after each converted kick. Not only did you want Ateneo to win but you really wanted these UST jerks to lose.
It's so easy to love this team--no prima donnas, no angas, no kayabangans--even my die-hard La Sallista wife became a fan. The overwhelming majority of the team is homegrown, learning the game in the Grade school and High school, unlike UST, FEU and UE who "import" their players from Negros, Romblon, Masbate etc. UP "imports" their players from Claret :-).
Came across coach Ompong during the celebration and joked about a Three-peat and he replied--puede, we're going to have the same team next year, almost
I think we lose only 4 players:
Achacoso--tough to replace his leadership and presence in midfield
Jaucian--tough to lose his toughness, the team's enforcer
Santos--steady wing back, great ball crosser
Villasis--the guy won a championship (plus the best scorer award) with UP a few years back, graduated, started an Ateneo MBA and won the championship with Ateneo in his final year of eligibilty
Everyone else has 2 or 3 years of eligiblity left.
THREEPEAT.

I think #8 Villon should have gotten the rookie of the year award, he could have even won the Best Defender award, but Pat Ozaeta deserves that too. We're going to have a great central defense for the next 3 to 4 years.

You're absolutely right a70. The boys wanted to win so bad and true to form they got their wish. Desire.. passion... courage of a TEAM was quite evident with the blue booters. The other teams can get their cue from them.
One big fight!!!!!

Mala Mighty Ducks yung ending. hehehe.
I'd like to give props to my main man Mickey Ingles who took a lot of bumps in the game. I've never seen him do so many "somersaults" in mid-air. But dude, gross me out with your tocino scars during finance class, aight?
GREAT JOB TEAM!

Inosenteng tanong lang po.
Hindi kasi ako nakaranas ng championship nung nag football team ako. Kapag nagcha-champion din ba ang team sa football, ginugupit din ba ang net at isinasabit sa MVP?
