Hey guys,
Our very own Ateneo Blue Babble Band has been one of if not the loudest and most cohesive drumming units in the UAAP.
Use this thread to show your support, air comments, suggestions, and what not, for one of the best drum squads in the UAAP!
*galing ng drumline nila!*

I have to agree with that, even if it was shown on TV for just a while.

Galing ng Band. They never fail to make the crowd jump with their "Go Ateneo!" drumbeats.

While watching yesterday's halftime show, I am pretty sure I wasnt the only one rendered speechless with a smile on my face that was slowly getting bigger and prouder by the second...
You guys showed em how to do it with class!!! *bouncing with wild applause*

Man, I think that was the best I've seen in years. The La Salle gallery was stunned. Ateneans stood proud even if we were trailing by a huge margin at the half.

since the green pep squad kinda declared "war" with their cheap antics, may i suggest that for our next drumline performance (in a admu-dlsu game of course), maybe you could paint green asses (whatever that may look like) on the skins of your bass drums.

hehe. heard from one thread that some alumni are reviving some of our old "projects." whatever those projects are, i'm sure it'll be a lot better than some hand swingin' routine reminiscent of the universal motion dancers.

It's just so hilarious how the other school's websites berate our drumline when in fact they couldn't even come up with one? They even claim that theirs is better than ours.Oh...ok...so their UAAP opening day drumline was "just a peek at their their GREATNESS"?
There was even this lasallite in GA.net who made so many technical claims about how a drumline SHOULD be done. What he said naman were all FACTUALLY baseless and not very well-thought of.The Blue Babble Band is THE ELITE BAND IN THE UAAP.DLSU had to resort getting LSGH, Benilde and Zobel to go up against our band! The ratio that day was 35 drums versus 16! Did our band get drowned out? Hell no. Last year, their band came out in the Final 4 with 24 drums against 14 of ours...WE DROWNED THEM OUT.
Instead of criticizing what we have and claiming this and that...WHY DON'T THEY JUST SHOW UP?

Right. It's not about the quantity of the drums (sorry to sound cliche here!). Quality ng performance! Hehe!
Anyway, ibang klase ang lakas ng drums ng Band. Hanggang Xavier-Berch SPG umaabot ang dagundong nila. Hehehe!

they played the drums the whole 2nd quarter of the Ateneo-DLSU game last august 22, as the College Band was already trooping towards the court in preparation for their halftime.

They "berate" it because that's the best they could do.
Even if they come up with a drumline of their own, it is a known fact that Ateneo BBB came up with that drumline idea and all other drumlines are just sheer imitations of it.
Good job Blue Babble Band (yes college and HS)! Keep it up!

the drum line is great but i think should not be repeated in this season. i dont mean to send a negative vibe but i just dont want other schools to say "yan na naman, wala na bang iba?". although i think the bbb can work up an entirely new routine so that it would be different, i still think we should reserve the drumline performance for a truly special occasion.(S)

once the band is fully ressurected, my family (and i'm sure a lot of old ateneo families too) would be delighted to hear certains tunes played again. stuff from the time of col. campaņa like the montes, the battle song, hail ateneo hail and so much more.
may nakakaalala pa ba ng panahon na 'to? i never tire of hearing stories from my parents, uncles and aunts about the good ol' days.

I am sorry to say that this effort by the band to amplify their handful of horns with this battery-powered PA system doesn't work. I strained my ears to hear them from the goal post. Pero wala. In contrast, I heard the La Salle horns well enough when they did their Go La Salle intros. How many horns did they have? Why can't we go back to asking our alumni players to reinforce? I really don't understand where we are going with the horns. Sayang lang kasi effort ng mga horn players natin if it is not heard at all. Paging Mister Kodaker...?

Training for the Babble starts early. Mr. Escuadro (?) starts scouting for talent even at prep level.
Last year, during the prep family day cheering competition, my son's classmate was the one pounding out the all the familiar beats (8 beat, blue eagle spelling, etc.). Pretty amazing for a 7 year old. Of course, it helps that his father is also a former babble/band member.
My son is also being groomed as one of the potential gradeschool babble members.
Also, if they stay together, expect this grade 1 batch to be a major force 12 years down the line. Lots of children of ex-basketball stars like Jet Nieto, Jojo Habana, Olsen Racela, Al Panlilio and Benjie Paras. Benjie's kid is 8 years old and stands about 4'10 already.

Ahhhh, one bright spot today with our lousy win against the NU Bulldogs. And as tradition dictates, the Ateneo Drummers did their annual duty of "leading" the crowd during the half time of the second to the last game of the season. It was such a hilarious routine. This is one of the reasons why watching a live game is such a blast. Their lively rendition of the Artillery Cheer was well received by the crowd. We had a laugh when the "artillery shells" blew at their faces and knocked down the artillery hahahaha.
Kudos for a nice half time show. Next year ulit!!!!!!
