wala lang. nagpaputok lang in the middle of the game. they had to stop play for half an hour because the damn venue was filled with smoke.

since then, the rizal coliseum bleachers has been designated as a no smoking area. (pwede magyosi dun dati? ayos.)

One reason pa, kaya medyo panget ang PEP namin, nobody wants to join. A reason? Ayaw kaya naman maputukan ng sawa. hehehe Ang kulay kulay hehehe

lumipat na nga kayo sa UA! naaawa na ako sa inyo e... sayang.

Animo red,

I agree with the assessment of Cackler. What Ateneo hopes to accomplish is find a replacement for Fonacier, a very tall outside shooter who can also handle the ball. Fonacier is a nightmare of a mismatch for most sg. He is tall, can dribble and pass the ball, can play defense and post down low. Estoesta has not developed his game plus payat pa rin. Dapat siguro sa kanya yung protein diet ni Aguilar! laugh.gif Akala ko nga yung steaks where donated by the Lorenzo family to the team for Aguilar. wink.gif

Martinez can play for Ateneo but because of the log jam among the guards, he may have to wait his turn. LaSalle is looking carefully at 2-3 guards of SBC in Martinez, Victorino and I forget the other starting guard. LaSalle has a log jam among the guards to with the boys from LSGH graduating and the Juban from Zobel who is in team B. But their problem is not as acute as Ateneo and chances are they will drop veteran players to make way for rookies. Aquino is good as dead for next year and Gaco is graduating.

It seems we have a chance for the Final 4, Letran beat San Sebastian today, but we have to beat Mapua on Wed for that final slot, and if we win we're gonna meet you guys during the Bantay Bata games. I'm more aniticipating that...
demonyitoh
also a bedan-atenean, i really hope san beda leaves the ncaa quickly... at the soonest possible time... while i was watching the letran-sanbeda game i could really feel how san beda is being dragged by the league especially by the other "schools." (sigh) san beda is really wasting time in the ncaa!!!
animo_red
^ that's why I don't really like watching the NC, not to mention you really have to fear for your life since those creeps could really mug you.
animo_red
Please support the Red Lions on Wed as we battle Mapua for the last slot for the Final 4. It's in Araneta anyway, so quite near 4pm.

I think we need the same motto, "Believe" hehehe

So sorry if I had prematurely consigned the Red Lions to another non-Final 4 season. My mistake. huh.gif

Go Beda Fight!

the last time i watched an NCAA san beda game, bad things happened.

The Red Lions blew a 20 point lead to letran and the Red Cubs lost for the first time in 2 years. (2 years!!!)

I have always supported san beda (except during the times when our football squads met on the field) and i will continue to do so until they face the blue & white cagers under the uaap flag. hehe.

One Big Fight to the red lions.

Props to my main man, baby-shaq taganas!

Animo_red does this mean that San Sebastian is now out of the final four picture? Will your game against mapua be televised? God Bless your team!
animo_red
The Game would be televised tom. And yes, San Sebastian is out of the picture for the Final Four. It seems a lot of Bedans are indeed going to watch (since it's in the Araneta), dunno if i would though, not fond of watching the NCAA but i support them nonetheless. hehehe

If you do watch a San Beda game, you would notice that our crowd is no different from yours. Sheer fanatics biggrin.gif

Thanks for you support

My sentimental fave sa cheering kasi is UP, since I also studied and have friends there. Next comes Ateneo I guess hehehe, even if you don't win your routines are memorable. Especially two years back, 2002 I think, goddess inspired yung PEP niyo. I just hate the one from Espaņa hehehe

Pinagpalit na tayo ni Red sa mga bouncing bodacious bodies doing frenzied routines. Teka ... Red kita na lang tayo sa Cheering! laugh.gif

Prep to First Year College Ateneo.

Had a, ahem, misunderstanding with one of the Jesuits so I eventually finished college at UE. Ok na rin dahil tubong Sampaloc naman ako.

Pinsan ko sina Jett and Reynold Pangan, mga Beda boys through and through. Friend ko din si Atty Sundian, dating Dean ng Beda Law.

ah ok no wonder hehehe Though I dunno the Pangan bros

Joescoundrel pinsan mo pala si Jet Pangan. When I first heard the guy, I was stunned! Para silang The Cure with their "Dreams" song. I bought an album way back then as in Vinyl LP pa talaga. He he shows my age as well. biggrin.gif

I still watch Jett's gigs whenever they're in town. Pero mukhang lay low na naman sila dito, nasa HK yata. Ewan kung buhay pang mga LP nila sa akin, antagal na nun, like 18 years back pa nung binili ko.

Congrats Animo Red! San Beda is now in the final four!

Yeah congrats to the Red Lions. Parang may koneksiyon nga talaga tayo sa kanila. Their best HS players play for us, their coach is an Atenean, and Manny Pangilinan was watching the final four game.
wonderboynastyman
dear forum regulars, magpapa-inom si animo red!

I can't believe we won... I was kinda teary eyed kanina hehehe mushy... especially when the Little Indians were back. And you can see sa crowd that we really wanted to win (eat your heart out La Salle- you'll never see them do what we did). Though a lot of the students don't memorize our cheers (and the band sucks), still our crowd was really supportive and very passionate. hehehe Medyo smart ass pa rin at mahilig humirit. hehehe

This was like also my first time to see King Lion Arjun Cordero do his thang... (thank God he did not transfer to Ateneo hehehe) Ato really taught his boys well. The same kind of intensity I saw in LA, Magnum, Ren Ren, Toti, etc.

This was like my first live game after a long time (I'm biased for the UAAP eh) hehehe and it's my first time to watch the game in Araneta where we actually won.

MAGPAPAINOM AKO!!!! HAHAHA oh man...

Thanks for the support and see you sa Bantay Bata games

ANIMO SAN BEDA!!
ONE BIG FIGHT

p.s.
oh yeah I saw someone from Ateneo who watched the game. He was wearing his school shirt. sino kaya yun?

QUOTE(a70 @ Sep 2 2004, 06:56 AM)
I watched the game at the Rizal yesterday with my bedan friend. Beda lost big time. Ncaa in my opinion is really in a soorry state of affairs. They don't sing their alma mater after their games. I think beda is just one of the few schools that sing their alma mater. When the bedans were singing their hymn, the PCU people were chanting..."Uwi na kayo!" but the worst part is...the bedan players themselves were running to their dug-out and not even listening to their schoolmates sing!! The only cheer that PCU has is just chanting P-C-U (just like feu's chant of F-E-U!). The cheering of San Beda is in a sorry state as well. They did their vaunted indian yell, but I only heard the drums and none of the students were mouthing the cheers. No little indians at half time as well, because their grade school is now in Rizal province. They also copied the "Lets go archers lets go" cheer of DLRT and replaced it with "Lets go beda lets go," apart from that cheer I could distinctly hear the drumbeats from another DLSU cheer. (whats going on with Beda???!! I thought they had lots of traditional cheers???!). As an added bonus -Beda chanted "ISKWATER ISAKWATER."

Beda's last championship was in 1978!!

I was really sad for them. Maverick was right...Beda is wasting away in the NCAA.

I just found out this trivia recently, you know the La Salle cheer, "wooooah animo la salle"? well based from our older alumni, DLSU copied that cheer from us. We call it the Lion's Roar. But they can have that, we have more cheers to choose from.
true.blue
Animo Red, you're still awake. Must've been celebrating! Congratulations. Though I have not so pleasant memories of San Beda, having been chased by an angry mob of Bedans down Aurora Blvd during the 76 Ateneo-San Beda championships, I miss hearing your cheers.

Talking about cheers, I was straining to hear them on TV last night and couldn't make out any. Was it the poor pick up by the Studio 23 mike? Do you still have a brass band like before?
animo_red
^ Sorry to hear that about us chasing you guys. I don't think we would have the energy to do that now hehehe. We might have the energy to run away from schools like Letran hehehe since they have what it takes to beat you to a pulp.

About the bands, yes we do have the brass bands still. The reason why the sound wasn't clear is because our band kinda sucks- we can't even hear them from where we are seated. We're in dire need to replace our drums and add more brass. We're organizing a fund drive as of the moment to get new sets of drums, with the major help from our alumni. But there's a stupid rule in the NCAA where you are only allowed to bring five drums... stupid rule I know, but we're in a stinking league. But no worries, maybe when we face you guys ni Bantay Bata there would be more.

A lot of us are dreaming of the day that we can spell ANIMO SAN BEDA RED LIONS (ok include MENDIOLA) with our drums hehehe

And yes we're still partying hehehe
a70
Watched your game at araneta live yesterday. Congrats! But, yeah your band kinda sucked. Was surprised that the Mapua band was a little more organized than your band. The indian yell was still the best cheer, but the words were not there anymore, just clapping. I couldn't hear any other cheer anymore because no one was cheering, they were only clapping. Alot of your band beats were really taken from DLSU, what's up with that??? (not the Lion's roar, you do it better than DLSU and its nice to know its a bedan original.) Half time was an eye opener. When it was time for mapua to do their half time cheer, the bedans turned their backs on the mapua cheerdancers...only in the NCAA, hahah.

(don't mean to sound mean or anything, but when I watch ncaa games and see the type of band and cheering you guys do there, it really makes me proud of the Blue babble battalion and the brand of cheering of the ATENEO. No one compares!!! Just being honest)

Maybe you can ask MVP to donate drums, make your band guys take a seminar from the BBB or something!

Congrats to SBC or is it SBU now?!
animo_red
It's understandable our cheers are a bit, "bogsa" our PEP is also in transition just like the whole school. First no one really wants to join our PEP (for now) I mean, sino ba magaganahan mag pep when your kalaban is the likes of PCU, UPHR, JRU, Letran and so on? blech

We are now working on a fund drive to buy new drums, so i guess our cheers would be heard next time if we get them para marinig ng crowd kung ano ang mga sinisigaw nila. And unlike the Blue Babble, the PEP and the SBC band are two seperate orgs at di sila nagcocoordinate at times, as a friend said sumisigaw na kami ng "DEFENSE" iba pa rin ang tinutugtog nila.

Really, the Blue Babble can help us out? Well I suggested also to ask help from the UP Pep with regards to new cheers since they're also innovative (and I have friends there). But before we ask for outside help we need to solidify our structure first. We will get there.
animo_red
I think it would be easy for us to memorize the cheers, that's the least of our problems. At least our PEP won't have a hard time to instill in us passion and unity because it came out naturally from us. Unlike some school along Taft who doesn't have crowd support and can't even memorize the Rektikano? hehehe

Congratulations to San Beda for once again landing in the Final 4 after 7 years. Hope the charm continues to the finals and, ultimately, to another championship for the Red Lions! smile.gif

animo_red
I wasn't able to watch the game but alam ko malaki lamang namin. I saw this at bedista.com

QUOTE("HollowPoint")
laugh.gif The first half was hard fought, but after two quarters San Beda was only 1 point behind. The Red Lions' overwhelming defense plugged the scoring flow of the Altas early in the third quarter, giving them only four points inside seven minutes.

Meanwhile, Cordero, Paterno, and Aljamal whipped the crowd into a frenzy as they grabbed rebound after rebound, resulting in a fifteen point lead by the fourth quarter. It was just a matter of forcing the Altas to risk long-range shots which ultimately sealed the game for the Lions.

By halftime, the Altas hadn't even yet broken thirty points - their forceful playing resulting in three of their starters having three fouls, which resulted in a very near foul trouble result for them. They relied mainly on spots and long-range shooting, but by the fourth quarter, they were evidently demoralized. San Beda's players were in the zone, their comfortable lead gave them about 70% accuracy from the charity stripe. It was over before it was over, so to speak. Another great game!  8)

Ok for those who are asking when will San Beda get it's University status, I think this post can give an insight.

QUOTE("masturdebater")
According to Mr. Dolor, there are 2 pre-requisites that San Beda has not met to merit a University Status from the CHED.  First, our research program and faculty development programs are far less impressive, to say the least in comparison to ATeneo and La Salle.  While UA&P is a small university, they meet this criteria quite well because they started out as a research/thinktank institution.  The Second criteria is the level or course offerings in the School.  This simply means, at least 2 Doctoral Programs must be offered.  Hence, the opening of the GRaduate School of Liturgy, Business and LAw.  Currently, we only have one Doctoral Program(Liturgy), but the GSLaw will soon follow suit with a PhD in Law.  I can't confirm this yet but San Beda will soon be opening a Graduate School of Philosophy as well.

I have heard from Admin sources that the target date for the University-status is 2007, the year when Father Rector is scheduled to step down as Rector President.  I'm not sure though whether the priority is the University Status for Mendiola or the SAn Beda Educational System, which will include SBC Alabang.

so the taget is 2007... in three years time... i dunno if that's soon enough or too slow

ONE GAME AT A TIME!!! cool.gif cool.gif

Bedan here...i can see now that Ateneans and Bedans are willing to see both squads get it on (in the UAAP perhaps?)

i'm the sports editor of The Bedan (school pub) and if anyone wants to rant and rave about the Red Lions, you can tell it to me since my beat is basketball and i usually cover the Red Lions' games and i can attest to the fact that the San Beda band really sucks big time especially in the 2 recent games of the Red Lions in the Araneta Coliseum

yes, the drums and brass are old, damn old! good thing i've been hearing about this fund drive of the alumni to donate new bass drums to the band. i'm yet to hear from Tito Mon (the REAL chief cheerleader, basically an old timer and the one who's been leading the cheerleaders) and from their student chief cheerleader regarding this fund drive donation thingy

...lastly, there is indeed a rising Bedan interest to join the Ateneans and La Sallites in the UAAP
Bleachers King
Is San Beda transferrring to the UAAP?
I hope not.
Just my opinion. Nothing personal. Just stay sa NCAA.
