Eagle_Eyes
Tune in to NU 107 beginning monday, july 12 from 9 pm to 10 pm for Halikinu Radio, the first and only talk show centered on Ateneo and the blue eagles.

Hosted by Mico Halili, this week's co-hosts will be Chot Reyes and VJ Patty Laurel. guests will be Coach Sandy and Larry Fonacier.

For future episodes, they will try to get Olsen Racela, Mikee Cojuangco, our season 67 rookies, Rico Blanco of Rivermaya, and other Ateneo personalities.

For everything and anything Ateneo, it's Halikinu Radio.

So spread the word around. It's time to conquer the airwaves.

GO ATENEO! ONE BIG FIGHT!
RuckuS
great news! one big fight!
Blue Fuel
Dapat i-guest din ang Blue Babble Members...Battalion,Band,Cheerdancers and Lifters!!!
hornsby
wonder if they'll take callers. if they will, they better screen those carefully if you know what i mean...

seriously, how sustainable is this?
alternick
I think the venture is sustainable. This will be something akin to Jude Turcuato's "In the Zone" show on the AM band.

They've gotten alot of companies to pre-book advertisements already. Besides, monday 9pm is a dead timeslot.

I've been informed that other (revolving) guest announcers include Gabe Mercado, Mhel Garrido and Tim Tayag.

I also hope that old favorites like Arnie Bohol, Gary Lising and Dyords Javier are considered for cameo appearances.

hey biggrin.gif i'm part of the prod staff of halikinu radio so if ever you guys have suggestions why don't you tell me so i can forward it to mico.

take care! biggrin.gif
ethanboy
I think its a good idea, just make sure that the show will be balanced (e.g. inviting other non-ateneo teams, personalities, coaches, players etc.) And I hope you'll be prepared for the calls if you do decide to take in callers...just a suggestion

thanks for the suggestion biggrin.gif pero since it's an ateneo basketball talk show, i'm not sure if other teams can guest but i'll still ask mico. thanks.

so, how did you guys find the first flight of halikinu radio? constructive criticisms are accepted. let's all work together to make this project a successful one. biggrin.gif

Ok naman. Mahina lang yung microphones ng guests niyo: Magnum and Coach Sandy.

Funny, some callers were constantly asking for music to be played. So they got Hail Ateneo Hail (rock version) and Dapulis' version of Halikinu. Just found it amusing.
Ghostrider
Looks like alternick was quite clairvoyant.

Mhel Garrido was the initial "color commentator" (no pun intended). His comments particularly the one about playing time for the rookies cracked me up! tongue.gif

Mico: Here's a question from our text line,"Coach, when will the rookies play?"

Sandy: *standard answer* (ie rooks still have alot to learn, will get playing time depending on their performance in practice)

Chot: - something about Coach's prerogative -

Mhel: Maybe they can ride the bench during the next game and the get some playing time next year and win rookie of the year award in season 68 laugh.gif bwa ha ha ha

Great talk show, pero bitin! Wish Sandy had more time to answer questions!

I loved the joke about Ateneo's first five being "the Pentium 4 plus Intal inside"!

Hey, is this talk show archived and available in the NU site? We need to get a taste of the Ateneo spirit here in the US.

AAAARGH! I missed it last night! Mga 9:30 PM na ako pinalaya ng boss ko eh and it was exactly 10 PM when I got into the car to go home. The car radio was tuned to NU but the show was over sad.gif

Ah, well, will try to catch the next installment. Is the show weekly or daily? *hustles back to thread to make sure*
bluestorck

Did you hear that the stupid comment from obviously a listener from the other side that the show was "biased!"

DUHHHHH, kaya nga "halikinu" radio, no????

Pagawa na kasi kayo kay Mike ILONG Enriquez ng show ninyo!

Nyaahahahahahaha ...

To the people in the states or outside the metro area, you can always catch the streaming feed of NU and many other stations at www.eradioportal.com, its my fave website whenever im out of manila...hope that helps!

The eloquence of Coach Chot Reyes showed last night. Hopefully the BJ Manalo issue is now put to rest and we can go on with the season. Funny ang mga text messages that were sent by the Green side. Just shows how curious they are na they are monitoring every move of the Blue side. Inggit na naman. Siguradong gagawa na naman sila ng kapareho, REKTIKANO Radio. pero sure sa AM. Mhel Garrido was at his best giving out timely jokes to lighten the matter and Mico Halili was a good moderator or host of the show.

Keep it up guys that was a great start. Hope more ateneans could guest and a lot more could listen. One Big Fight.

actually, halikinu radio is just for the basketball season...but if people like it and there is a big number of people tuning in (no matter what side they are... wink.gif ) this endeavor may be continued during the second sem but this time the focus will be on the football team. so guys, let's support halikinu radio biggrin.gif

keep those suggestions coming! i'll make sure that these will reach mico and the rest.

take care! biggrin.gif

At si Mike Enriquez ang magho-host. Ugh. I have nothing against him as a person, but as a radio host, pare, ang sakit talaga sa tenga ang boses niya. Unfortunately, lots of FX drivers like to listen to him rant.

Yeah but 9pm there is 9am here on a Monday at that. Furthermore, we are prevented by our firm from downloading video & audio.

I say archive the shows for us less fortunate ones smile.gif

Siguro they can also guest former blue eagle champs like the 87-88 team, 75-76 team. Players then were sina Jun Reyes, Eric Reyes, Jayvee Gayoso, Danny Francisco, Alex Araneta to name a few while Fritz Gaston (who coached the 88 team) together with Padim Israel, Joy Carpio, Steve Watson and Coach Baby D. They were the last NCAA champion team remember

special request to Mico Halili- paki feature naman si Wesley Gonzales really soon- Im sure lots of fan girls like me would appreciate it.

Heh, don't worry, I knew my post was going to sound funny. cool.gif Maybe I should have just said "someone sounds like he's been having too much ampalaya in his diet," but the other one was the first that came to mind.

I keep on forgetting to listen. How did the second airing go?
Well, I suggest that if this really works out, it will be continued until the second sem. We have to give credit to the football team. They're still our defending Champions. I'm sure many people will still listen to the show. biggrin.gif

I finally heard Halikinu Radio this morning (evening). It was great to hear Ateneo basketball talk again. Mhel G. sounds the same after all these years!

Mhel G., request naman for old timers -- Can you do your version of that old rap song "Supersonic?"

Where can we get a copy of the new versions of the Ateneo cheers and songs?
Eagle_Eyes
the show last night was entertaining and funny (as usual). olsen racela was there. also, some members of our taekwondo team who bagged medals overseas. there were the usual text-in comments and questions.

the point guards - l.a., macky, and yuri - arrived a little late because they ended practice at around 9 pm. they normally end at 9 daw because prior to actual practice, the entire team spends around 30 minutes viewing previous games. so instead of the ideal 2-hour practice daily, they always spend around 3 hours in moro. but the hosts were told about this early in the show when coach sandy himself texted mico to apologize because they ended practice late, but there was no need to worry because the three amigos were on their way to the station. bait naman ni coach. nag-apologize pa. smile.gif

asked why his hair always seemed to be styled whenever he was on court, macky simply said ganun daw talaga hair niya..paggising niya ganun na kasi tatlo daw puyo niya hahahahha..

mel garrido was his usual funny and witty self, eliciting a lot of controlled laughter in the background.

one comment of his went something like this:

MICO: The UPIS team dominated the rebounds 50-something to 30-something. That probably was the main reason why the eaglets lost..

MEL: Maybe a lot of the UP players were heartbroken..that was why they were all on the rebound.. laugh.gif

another instance:

MEL: So LA, you average around 35 minutes per game. So that leaves you Macky, with 5 minutes of playing time. And you yuri...., (silence) well people, you do the math laugh.gif

and still another instance:

the hosts were discussing the blue eagles...

MEL: Ah yes..about doug...well the only problem of doug is himself..that's why it's kramer vs. kramer laugh.gif

catch next week's show..you won't regret it.

astig ng show kagabi! im not an atenean but i think halikinu radio is really cool!! astig pa ng guests kgabi...c olsen racela with some of the other players!!!! tongue.gif

Last night was good considering they also had Women Taekwondo Gold medalists! Patty Laurel is still my favorite, she added class to the group. Its a nice blend of classy interviews (patty), witty remarks (mhel garrido), and exciting guests (ols & the ateneo point guards). Olsen talked about the three ateneo pgs and shared his thoughts on the guys. Remember Olsen played back up many times, in HS, College, PBL and PBA but where is he now, he is the top point guard in the land. Keep it up guys. Hope you guest other popular ateneans like wesley, parokya, the cheerleaders , the women's basketball team and other athletes from different sports. laugh.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif

I also hope that old favorites like Arnie Bohol, Gary Lising and Dyords Javier are considered for cameo appearances.

Have to share this funny anecdote about Arnie Bohol's older bro, the famous Dr. ERNEST Bohol of our generation. Guys from the early 80s in Loyola will remember him as the partner of Al Tengco in emceeing all the fairs and events of the school.

The story was that he was an intern at UERM and a stabbing victim was bought to the ER. Ernest is treating another emergency case at that time so he tells the orderly to "park the stretcher" and "pa-estimate sa mechanico kung magkano aabutin ang damage." Pati daw yung may saksak, tawa ng tawa ...
MIRON
Hehe, Dr. Ernest is really a legend during his time. There was this one incident when Alex Araneta joined the Days with The Lord and Ernest was asking him some questions during the Welcome. Then he asked Alex to stand up and raise his right hand upwards. Then Ernest who is i think many shades smaller than 5 feet jumped up did a 360 degree turn in the air and gave a very very high five to Alex.
that brought the house down. The Bohol brothers were really a class act in the 80s. Swerte nating mga atenista cause there are really so many funny men each and every decade.
Giant NRS2
Oo nga, fixture si Ernest sa DWTL during the late 80's until the very early 90's...Another funny guy I remember is Jeff Tan, formerly of the BBBatallion. Lamang, pagtapak ni Mhel G. sa Loyola, talbog na siya smile.gif
