Yesterday, Defense Secretary Eduardo Ermita has lauded former President Joseph
Estrada for his timely call for calm and sobriety as Congress starts
to canvass the votes for president and vice president in the May 10
elections.

"The former president displayed an exceptional act of statesmanship
when he issued a timely appeal for everybody to keep calm and allow
the democratic processes to take the natural course in resolving the
remaining issues related to the just-concluded national election,"
Ermita said in a statement.

Being a former president, Ermita said, Estrada's words of wisdom
would add to the enlightenment of the public and the political
leaders from both sides "and bring back our true deportment as a
people and one nation."

"From one who has a full discernment of when and how tensions can be
defused, his (Estrada's) entreaty strikes a very comforting tone to
those from all sides of the political fence and those whose conduct
should distinctively be beyond the passions of politics," Ermita
said.

Last May 30, Estrada called on Congress leaders to expedite the
canvassing of votes and urged all political leaders to allow the
canvassing to take its course.

Estrada said the completion of the canvassing, and the proclamation
of the president and vice president "should be the first step
towards our much-desired national healing" and the appropriate time
for the country's leaders "to pull together and water down the
anguish that is immobilizing our economy and dividing our nation."

"To those who are with us in steering the country's stability to the
right track, we are encouraged to find an authentic ally in the
former Commander in Chief in our struggle for lasting peace and
unity," Ermita said.

Earlier, numerous groups from the church, business, universities,
and other associations also joined the call for calmness and
sobriety and for the expeditious conclusion of the May 10 elections.

i totally agree with both of you. i just hope, erap can convince his friend to stop acting like eddie gil ang move on with his life. he can always be the actor that he is and win best actor.

alam mo, whether erap is more intelligent than fpj or not, the thing is that GMA cheated Erap out of his 6 year term and FPJ was cheated by GMA also. Di si GMA ang mas madunong sa dalawa..heheheh.

when erap went out of malacanang under the threat of violence, he did not mind if he will lose his presidency basta walang masktan at magkagulo. even makoy did that. si gma, ortigas pa lang mga marchers, binabatuta na. in malacanang, snipers opened fire at the protesters. cory did the same in mendiola in 1987. several persons died. in both instances, they were protecting the presidency daw...at the cost of lives which they will dismiss as collateral damage.

ateneans remained with pres. erap to his last day. gloria is from u.p. so kay gloria ka pa rin?? ed angara is not working for erap. he's from u.p. and the mole of gma.

Cheated? In what way? She did not violate any law when she took her oath as president right? And how could she ever have cheated FPJ this time? Simula pa lang ng botohan, every political party, merong mga watchers. Di naman sila makakapayag na madaya ang kandidato nila. When those 5 senators of KNP were proclaimed, hindi ba itinaas nya ang mga kamay ng kanyang kaalyado? Isn't it a sign, that even he himself believes in the credibility of COMELEC? He has no complaints. Why should there be any difference from the upcoming results for the proclamation of our new president?

Paano mo naman nasabi na erap did not mind if he lose his presidency basta wala lang masaktan? Ganun ba sya kamartyr para gawin yun? The people were asking for him to be impeached. Well, in fairness to him, not all pinoys agree with this impeachment thing. But due to evidences, he had no choice but to do so and comply with the law.

oh yeah erap did mind when he lost his position... alam lang kasi ni erap na wala na ang support ng mga tao sa kanya kaya siya umalis... even his generals left him... his cabinet left him...

if you were reading the newspapers and monitoring the news from your television and radio, you might have observed that what gervase's saying is true. it's factual and it's not based on mere opinions and hearsays. we should always keep our eyes wide open you know

And those were the same COCs used for the counting of the senatorial votes that are now being used for the canvassing of the presidential and VP votes. Maybe Jinggoy and Co. thought fit to just shut up rather than jeopardize their victory.

it's plain and simple tenacity among the members of the opposition. if their bet can't win through honest procedures, they will think of strategies for fpj to be proclaimed as president. no-proclamation plot, edsa 4, name it, there are lots of way for their anticipated victory.

to hell with the walkout of the Alyansang Karapatan at Pagkakaisa and other spectators in the session hall gallery of the congress... to hell with the requests from concerned groups (religious, business etc...). that's what their callous spirits are ignoring.

And dont friggin say FPJ didnt finish HS... he chose not to finish HS because he COULD NOT handle the pressure on him as the bread winner of his family. So pity him.

Both got no brains... I mean who the **** is in the right mind to run as President anyway if he/she will only do service to the country and take nothing in return?
