I played this game yesterday at Netopia... Impressive yung gameplay.. just like NBA. I heard PBA was only a patch for the real Live 2003.
Konting improvisations na lang... sobrang ganda na.

I know zilch about programming ekeekekek, but i'm just wondering if it will ever possible for that game to be transferred/converted into something playable on consoles (most preferrably PS2)?
Paging our superduper talented Filipino programmers oberderrrr...
I'll pay ya a million bucks! Payable on installment for one million days.

this has 'copy/patent infringement suit' written all over it. wonder if EA licensed out its code.

The only problems PBA live would have regarding copyright is when PBA itself asks for its legality.
PBA Live is released as freeware. Only pirates gain money from it.
EA Sports has released tools to enable users to manipulate files of their sports products. This patch used these products and their own graphic manipulation products (Adobe Photoshop, Paintshop Pro etc.) to be able to make the faces. We can also make this type of patch if we have the time for it.
So from my point, there's nothing wrong here. PBA Live 2003 is just a modification for NBA Live 2003. It's like a user mod to Half-Life or Quake. Different graphics and rules, same engine and gameplay.
I had a PBA Live 98 and a UAAP Live 98 (An Atenean made it) before, but they were half-done. This one, although still unfinished, already looks great.

I think the patch is great... i don't know what version you played at Netopia but there's a new version out now.. complete with courts, current PBA rosters and and OPM soundtrack...about 20 teams including Crispa and Toyota... only things missing are the voice of quinito and other PBA commentators...hehehe....

an UNOFFICIAL patch, though. official patches have permission from the authors of the software. take frozen throne for an instance. wc3:ft is an official patch, blizzard released it under their market sales. unofficial patches do not have the right to copyright their games under the game owner's name.
correct me if im wrong.

Don't worry. The game doesn't claim it has "copyright" to the PBA franchise, nor the songs they used. It's a user made mod, like those created rules for Red Alert or Gundam characters in Starcraft. That's why the creators of PBA Live 2003 don't sell their mod.
Pirates, on the other hand, burn their mod on a cd and do sell it. So should they be sued?
