this is really cool. i can't wait for snake eater to come out.

i downloaded the e3 movie of mgs snake eater and i saw snake eating a dead snake... hehe its more realistic compared to mgs2 because your energy would depend on the food you eat and stuff... your stamina could get affected and lots of new features... i also like the shoot-outs on water... the bullets really go through the water just like in the movies...

I've seen it too. The debate coming from fans is about the timeline. The fact that the game was based on the 60's (according to a press conference of Kojima) means the game involves Big Boss. But... Why is Snake on the trailer? Lots of theories jumped from coast to coast, none of them being answered by Kojima. So people are guessing that the man in the trailer is Big Boss; others saying it is Snake.

Well, there goes a little teaser for ya.

Anyways, Kojima said that this will be his last MGS. He said that too when he created MGS:SOL.

I heard its not Solid Snake... its Liquid snake before turning evil and teaming up with Ocelot... something like that...

I'm already playing the game and it has been very cool. Snake could change his camouflage gear and eat animals in the forest. The Boss is awesome while Ocelot is funny.

so far the game is better than metal gear 2 and i'm not even 1/4 of the game. one word to describe it: BADASS.

random thoughts:

1. mgs3 timeline is in the 60's. you'd think the hero was snake but it's actually big boss. snake is the clone of big boss whom you'll play in the original series in NES and the 2 games from PS1 and PS2.

2. the best in the series to date. no more reliance on soliton radar, no worries about life but you just need to eat, many many options on how to kill an enemy.

3. EVA is smoking hot! but i find it irrelevant why she needs to unzip her uniform while in battle. but hey who's complaining?

4. already finished the game and i'm starting over again. the story's way too cool!

5. there are many secrets within the game and other extras. i suggest you look through the web on this (e.x you can kill the sniper boss - "the end" earlier and easier to avoid fighting him later in the game)

But... If you kill "The End" early, you lose the chance to hold him up for his Moss camo and stamina kill him to get his Mosin Nagant...

If you want a nice, rewarding challenge, defeat the bosses by draining their stamina only (non-lethal wins, so tranq gun/sniper rifle only) to get their special camo, like The Pain's Hornet camo... With it you can tame the bees and make others feel "the pain".

kakatamad lang kasi makipag laban kay the end eh. tagal sobra! last time i beat him, it took me an hour and a half!

but i'll try that stamina thing. ok ata yon!

After playing through MGS3, I kinda feel guilty about whipping Big Boss' @$$ at the end of the first Metal Gear. I guess what Kojima was trying to say was, Big Boss wasn't a real "bad guy." He was just misunderstood. He saw how soldiers (like The Joy) were being treated like pieces of meat by the governments commanding them, and he was fed up, I guess. Pretty good move by Koj, to make a previously black-and-white idea (Big Boss as a villain) grayer than ever.

Major bummer with MGS3 supposedly being the "last" of the MGS series. But who knows, Koj might get hit with a surge of inspiration again. All this terrorist hoopla around the world might actually get his creative juices flowing once again, for MGS4.

C'mon Koj...please?

good news for you - i saw an article saying that Kojima is currently in the conceptualization phase for MGS4.

the bad news is - you'll need to buy a new console for it most probably will be only available on PS3 or something...

Great! I hope you're right, man. Shame, though. I'm sure the PS2's got a good year or two before hitting the "retro console" list. I hope they end it on a high note.

Oh, I'm getting a PS3 when it comes out, for real. Wouldn't even have to think twice about it. Seen the few PS3 screens circulating around the Web? Sweet! I think Microsoft's coming out with the Xbox 2/Next/whatever. Doesn't matter, I guess. Xbox sucks. What the hell am I supposed to do with all this wonderful processing power and stuff, if must-haves like the Final Fantasy series don't even show on Xbox? Technology is fine, but the game library is the most important thing.

Isn't MGS3 a PS2 exclusive, too? Goodness, is Microsoft out of the loop, or what?

good point man. computing power wouldn't be much if all the kick ass games are in another console!

i think x-box (or was it nintendo?) had an MGS 1 for their console before (the one where solid snake fights liquid)

i really hope that MGS3 is not the final hurrah for the series in PS2 though

otherwise, i'll have to shell out P25-30T again just to get a PS3! damn! well, as long as PS doesn't find a way to counter those pirated games, the consoles should be a good investment!

Y'know what I think'd be cool? Remake the first-ever Metal Gear (the one on the NES) onto PS2/3.

they should take advantage of the hype from snake eater and re-develop the original MGS.

i'm sure fans won't mind seeing an enhanced PS version for that. plus, they won't have to think of the story anymore, just enhance the dialogues.

i'm just imagining the dialogues between big boss and snake.

back to the continuation of the series, i'm still hoping that after sons of liberty that snake would still be the main character (konami should clone him again or something). it kinda ruined things for me when raiden became the main character. it became too anime-ish.

plus, no one does snake's voice better than david hayter!

And the whole "Jack and Rose" thing? Only Koj would have been able to get away with that. I wouldn't mind playing as another character for a while, but I want to spend most of the game playing as Snake. What was the Snake-Raiden playing time ratio in MGS2? 30-70?

yea. it was around that estimate all right. i was so disappointed when i had to play raiden. and i was even more disappointed when roy campbell was not a real person! it ruined everything even for MGS1!

by the way, have you successfully beaten each boss in MGS3 the non-lethal way? it's hard! so far, i was only able to do that to "the fear" - just throw some rotten food for him to eat and wait! haha!

No, I haven't yet. It's real hard to tranq everyone into submission, but I know that's what I have to do to get some special weapons.

Dude, I think THE Roy Campbell of MGS1 was a real guy. After all, Meryl WAS real, flesh and blood, and she acknowledged him as her uncle (though he was actually her dad). Raiden's Roy Campbell was the fake, but not Snake's Campbell, I think.

Don't be a Raiden-hata, playa... He's cool in his own way. Kojima introduced him just because he felt that sooner or later, Snake will be too old, and someone else may have to replace the main character... Of course Snake still has a few good years in him, but someone will have to take his place as the "Big Boss" among the soldiers of the world, and barring the emergence of another of Jack's clones, Raiden's perhaps the only one worthy to take on the mantle. Give him a few years to mature up and a little bit of mentoring from Solid, and he'll be ready. After all, Raiden's not so bad... His skills are as good as Snake's as a soldier, and he wields that High Frequency Blade like nobody's business... I wouldn't be surprised if he took on the mantle of the Ninja, supporting Snake from the shadows in the next few MGS games... He'd still be there as a main character, without taking the focus away from Solid Snake...

Anyway, did any of you try poisoning "The Fear" during the fight... That's the fastest way to stamina kill him... Feed him rotten food. He just kills himself from eating and puking.

yea, i tried poisoning the fear, it was really cool! the hard part is to just time it in such a way that he'll need to eat and toss the rotten food in his way... but really worth trying!

if i were koji, i'd have a storyline where snake was kidnapped by ocelot (er liquid snake) and cloned again, in an effort to remake the les infantes terribles. another outer heaven.

then snake would escape, finish off ocelot once and for all as his last mission. his clones will succeed him in the next series of MGS...

or even add in a clincher - ocelot clones himself to be younger back to when he was in mgs 3! haha!

I wouldn't mind having a younger Ocelot as a playable character... Back then he was more of a punk with a sense of honor like a young Dante from DMC3 than the evil, manipulative, and sadistic bastard he is in the current MGS timeline.

MGS creator Hideo Kojima and MGS chief artist Yoji Shinkawa came to London this week to promote the (late) release of MGS3 here in the UK. I just came from the autograph signing session and it was unbelievable!

When my turn came, I approached them with my game and strategy guide for them to sign. Knowing either of them can't speak fluent English, I just blurted out, "MGS4!" They looked up at me, shook my hand, and smiled.

Man, I'm still shell-shocked. Can't believe I met them today...

just wondering - would your game copy be by any chance pirated?

Actually, I should've slipped them a note containing all of my suggestions. I guess they could have it translated...damn!
